Medical Nutrition Therapy
OWLO offers an array of nutrition education opportunities. One-on-one dietary consults and group sessions are available to help you adapt to your new lifestyle. The Registered Dietician will teach you how to use your bariatric surgery as a "tool" for long term weight loss success.
Pre-Operative Nutrition Education
Initial Diet Consult
This one-on-one consult with a Registered Dietician will assist you in forming an individual meal plan before and after surgery. The postoperative meal plan highlights the importance of specific nutrients including protein, vitamins, and minerals. Your lifestyle post operatively will include a regimen of high protein meal replacements, protein snacks, vitamins and minerals.
10-Day Diet Class
The focus of this group class is the diet you will follow 10 days before surgery. The purpose of the high protein, low carbohydrate diet is to prepare your body physically and nutritionally for surgery. The 10-day diet and your post-operative diet are similar.
In the class you will learn how to advance your diet following weight loss surgery which is a 4 to 8 week progression depending on your surgery. The slow advancement of the diet promotes proper healing while preventing nutrient deficiencies. The 10-day diet class is every Thursday at 9:00 am.
