OKlahoma WEIGHT LOSS OPtions and the Norman Regional Hospital Bariatric Program have just been designated as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS). The ASBS was formed in 1983 as an organization for leading surgeons in the U.S. to provide education and support in the field of bariatrics. This society strives to advance the art and science of bariatric surgery through its encouragement to allied health professionals.

Receiving this honor sets the OWLO bariatric program apart, by meeting the standards of care set forth by ASBS. These standards require a comprehensive approach to weight loss which include behavioral, dietary, and exercise components. In addition, Medicare now covers weight loss surgery when performed at a Center of Excellence.
